Willard Community Theatre is pleased to announce our partnership with  Missouri Stream Team Watershed Coalition on location at The Hartsburg Grand RiverStage. "Located on the second floor of the Hartsburg Grand, [The Hartsburg Grand RiverStage] was added shortly after the original building was built. It served as community center for weddings, reunions, birthdays, school and church plays, as well as traveling musical and theatrical acts coming from the Missouri River and Railroad."
She Weeps: An Unquenchable Tale teaches us through a series of stories, myths, and legends about the interdependence humanity has with water. The best and worst of humankind is revealed. Like water, we are creative, self-serving, devoted, persevering, mournful, and reactive. We are the stewards of the water that flows through our world and in our veins. To protect water is to protect ourselves and all creation. Join Narcissus, Persephone, a Snowchild, a SeaWitch, a Frog King, the Weeping Woman, and an entire ensemble cast in revealing the much forgotten truth: you are made of water.

Have I Ever Told You?
June 12 & 13, 2014 at 7:30 P.M.
We remember and retell the remarkable, laughable, broken-down pieces of a lifetime. May we live stronger now, for the journeys of our neighbors and friends serve as good food and medicine. Listen: these are our stories.

Delivering David: Past Presence Undusted

A man is confronted with a myriad of boxes, each revealing his heritage: whisperings and intrusions, lessons from the past.

Information about the original text: A group formed to create a script that would examine a man’s rites of passage in the 21st century. Knowing that the purpose of a family and a community is to mold and inspire men of honor, this diverse group of people: teachers, Willard graduates, students, and parents built a story about ancestry, challenges, and personal wisdom.

The original text, music, and lyrics were created by the people: by the sons and daughters and elders of this village.  The original score was created by graduating senior T.J. Chatman.  This enrichment opportunity has enabled all of us to examine a man’s rites of passage, his possibilities and to weave together purely fictional stories with authentic remnants from our own heritage.  This is a story about genetics, and yet it may not be the blood running through our veins that connects us.  Man may be more defined by the struggles, decisions, and deeds of his ancestors.  This is clearly a story about love and faith.

The acting?  The actors are a comprised group of 3 decades of state qualifying and 1st place winners.  The actors are parents, students, and former graduates; fine representatives of this community and beyond.  The audience will be in awe.  This production is directed by Kendra Chappell and choreographed by Liz Chappell; the technical directors are Garrett Holle and Matt Youn
